About the Event
Resilience is the ability to persevere, to overcome setbacks and to 'bounce-back'.
People living with cancer need resilience; so do elite athletes.
To celebrate the delayed Tokyo 2020 Olympics, we will hear from two former Olympians, each with incredible stories to share about perseverance, opportunity, hope, success, knockbacks and resilience - as an athlete and beyond.
- Lisa Forrest is an Olympian (1980), dual Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist (1982) and Silver Medallist (1978), actor, reporter, sports commentator and author, and is an inductee in the Northern Beaches Sporting Hall of Fame. Her most recent book, Glide, was published last year.
- Gearoid Towey earned both Bronze (1999, 2003, 2006) and Gold Medals (2001) at the World Rowing Championships, represented Ireland in the Olympics in 2000, 2004 and 2008, and is active in athlete transition through Crossing the Line. He is currently studying for a Law degree.
Lisa and Gearoid will be in conversation with Darren Mara of SBS-TV.
Join us at 6pm for our Annual Fundraising Soirée comprising great conversation, canapés and complimentary drink on arrival (cash bar thereafter), and soothing jazz from singer Kate Friend.
